Fairwinds Horses

Meet The Fairwinds Horses!

Meet the Mares
Annabelle

Breed:

Belgian

Color:

Flaxen Chestnut

Annabelle is the sturdiest carriage horse as well as trail horse. She takes her time when she has a rider on her back, or a carriage hooked up. She's one of the most gentle horses you can ever meet, even though she is massive. She can frequently be found "mowing" the Fairwinds grounds!

Daytona
Allison and Daytona- Photo by Caitlin E. Adams

Breed:

Thoroughbred

Color:

Seal Brown

Daytona is from Argentina, and came to Fairwinds retiring from a rather successful career as a polo pony. She is a great trail horse who can go all day, but is also a good lesson horse.

Polly

Breed:

Percheron

Color:

Grey

Polly is a big girl- and is considered small for her breed! She was very overweight when we bought her, and we started working on a weight loss plan, but the very next week she had a surprise foal in the field, which explained everything. Now that Fire is all grown up- Polly pulls carriages and gives trail rides.

Breed:

Paint/ Thoroughbred (?)

Color:

Piebald

He's not a lesson horse, but he does live at Fairwinds and will happily accept your treats! (Although- you have to put them in his bucket since he will continue to pick pockets after the treats are gone if you don't.) His mom, Janine, frequently helps out at the barn as a trail guide.

Clay

Breed:

Morgan

Color:

Brown

A favorite of many of the students for his spunky attitude and comfortable gates. Clay is used in our show team, and does really well! And remember; don't call him fat! He's fluffy!

Gates

Breed:

Thoroughbred

Color:

Chestnut

Gates is one of our youngest horses with a great amount of potential ahead! Originally he raced, but he is such a sweet slow boy, he failed as a racehorse. Our advanced students are learning how to train horses with him, realizing they have to be patient to teach him to be an amazing show horse.

Joey

Breed:

Appaloosa

Color:

Blue Roan

Joey is one of our excellent beginner ponies. He is very gentle and sweet! However, this bugger likes to walk over jumps- so make sure you carry a crop!

Painted Warrior

Breed:

American Paint

Color:

Piebald

Paint is JoAnn's personal favorite- as she rescued him when he was younger. She personally worked with him to get him over his fear of humans. Don't tell him he's 28+ years old, because he is still running and jumping! He is featured on the back of JoAnn's novels.

Sailor

Breed:

Thoroughbred

Color:

Sailor has great bloodlines - his grandfather was a famous race horse named Precisionist. And Sailor knows that he should be treated like a king because of it! Sailor is not only a great lesson and trail horse, but an amazing show horse! Our boy cleans up very nice.

Smokey Joe
