Meet Ted & JoAnn
Ted and JoAnn Dawson gained years of business and horse experience operating Carousel Farm & Riding Stables in Delaware from 1986 to 1998. In 1999 they opened Fairwinds Farm & Stables.
JoAnn has a B.S. degree in Animal Science and Ag Education and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Delaware. She teaches Equine Science along with Theatre classes at Cecil College.
She is a LEAD Maryland fellow, and member of the MD Horse Council, Cecil County and North East Chambers of commerce, Cecil County Economic Development Commission, Cecil Tourism and MD Farm Bureau Equine Committee.
Through her membership in the Screen Actor's Guild JoAnn (SAG name Jodi) works in film and television as an actress, wrangler, and animal handler. Best credits: The Sixth Sense, Oprah Winfrey'sBeloved, 12 monkeys, Prince Among Slaves, VEEP and House of Cards.
Ted holds a B.S. degree from the University of Delware in Business Administration and Finance. He has an extensive farming background, including dairy, crops, livestock and fish farming. He is a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau and teaches equine classes at Cecil College.
The Dawsons have two grown sons, Zach andNick, and three wonderful grandchildren.

Our Farm
Ted on JoAnn's grandfathers restored 1957 Farmall Cub Tractor.
The Farm
Our facility comprises 52 partially wooded acres including six fenced fields, an indoor and outdoor ring, and two barns. Our restored Victorian home doubles as a Bed & Breakfast!
Indoor Ring
The natural light illuminating our unique "Cover All" arena makes it feel like you’re riding outside! Call to reserve the ring for winter riding. From May to mid-October our ring is completely transformed for weddings!
Outdoor Ring
Our 100’ x 200’ lighted outdoor sand ring is regularly groomed and set up with a course of jumps.
Our Barns
Our two barns include a total of 28 stalls sized 12 x 12 to 14 x 14, tack rooms, heated office, and wash stall. We accept overnight lay-ups with turnout included.
Cross Country & Trails
Our cross-country course includes logs, coops, tires, and other natural jumps ranging from 18"-2'6". Perfect for people who are just starting cross-country!
Trails can last 15 minutes or over an hour depending on the path you choose.
